UCPEA’s official newsletter will be changing in format, from PDF publications to a blog format. This change will make it easier to read, share, and revisit past content anytime, anywhere — no downloads needed. This shift is meant to improve how members connect with our updates and stories.
WHEN?
Changes will be implemented in November! Members will begin seeing Union Wire stories linked right on the weekly member digest email as they come in, and the digest will be renamed the Union Wire.
WHY?
Accounting for Accessibility
A print-first layout requires longer lead times for layout, editing, and distribution. This delay can make the content less timely once it reaches members.
Focusing on Reach & Engagement
Even if printed, the physical newsletter is easy to ignore, misplace, or discard. Digital distribution makes it easier to track readership, engagement (clicks), and feedback — and to resend or follow up if needed.
Finding Success in Digest Format
The Union Wire contains important information. This won’t go away. The hope is to simplify the Wire to fit the way we share news, making it easier to create and send stories and events more often and to more people.
